About La bergerie

Welcome to La Bergerie,

After spending over 10 years of holidays in this part of France with our two sons, we developed the desire to have our own house in this beautiful area. We started our search for a house that we potentially could transform to a bed & breakfast at some point. In the summer of 2016 we had the opportunity to buy La Bergerie. The villa is uniquely situated and offers you a high level of privacy. The Village can be reached by foot or by making use of the bikes that are available to you at the house.

Callas is a small village in the Var, Provence and is well known for its Olive Oil. Our guest house "La Bergerie" played a role in the history of farmers growing and harvesting the olives.

Once upon a time, many years ago, farmers tended olive trees on stepped terraces that rose steeply behind La Bergerie as far as the eye could see and beyond. It was hard manual labor and in the spot where the house now stands, was a small "cabanon", built from stone cut from the local quarry. Here, the weary farmers could take rest and escape from the searing midday sun.

There came a time when the farmers abandoned their work on these slopes and nature took over, gradually transforming them into what you see Today. In the early 1980's, a Callassian decided to build a house in place of the original cabanon, again using the stone from the local quarry. He never finished it and five years later the house was discovered by a Belgian cycling and care racing enthusiast.

The idyllic setting and its high level of privacy were reason for him to acquire the house and transform it in "La Bergerie".

We had the opportunity to buy "La Bergerie" in 2016 and we would like to share the true Provence with others for their holiday or activities.

Living rooms

The house holds two separated living areas. A lounge area with open fireplace and a combined dining and living room with tv and dvd, Due to this set-up the house is ideal for two families to spend the summer together.

Kitchen and dining

Kitchen with high quality Siemens equipment induction cooking plate, two ovens, microwave, fridge, dishwasher. Doors to outdoor dining terrace.

The Kitchen is linked to the dining area, which is part of the specious living room. The large dining table fits 10 people

Bedrooms

La Bergerie has 4 bedrooms. Three bedrooms are situated on the 1st floor and one on the second floor (tower room). Every bedroom is equipped with large (180x200) double beds which can be separated.

Bathrooms

The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with bath, separate douche, toilet and a double sink. The second bathroom is also situated on the first floor and has a bath, separate douche, toilet and double sink. The tower room has its own bathroom with shower, toilet and sink.

Heating

Electricity by meter.

Garden and outside

The garden is surrounding La Bergerie and offers multiple terraces. Pool 11 x 5 m to 2.5m deep, with terrace, sun loungers and garden furniture. Lovely garden full of flowers, shrubs and trees.
